Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a treatment method used by practitioners of Oriental Medicine, which aims to restore the body’s natural balance by stimulating homeostasis.  Acupuncture focuses on overall well-being rather than treating only specific, isolated symptoms. The aim of acupuncture is to restore equilibrium within a person’s physical, emotional and spiritual aspects.

In acupuncture therapy very fine sterile needles are inserted at specific points of the body so as to rebalance the internal environment, re-establish homeostasis, and to regulate the vital force, or Qi mechanism, and thus treat disease.  Most people associate acupuncture with pain management, and it is true that acupuncture is very effective at treating all types of acute and chronic pain, as it’s best known in the West for pain relief.   Western science has proven that acupuncture can regulate the body by many mechanisms, including stimulating the endocrine and nervous systems and continues to be extensively studied by institutions such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the National Institute for Health (NIH) because it consistently outperforms other “conventional” therapies, including pharmaceuticals.

That said, acupuncture can be used to treat a very wide range of conditions including infertility, gynecological conditions, digestive disorders, respiratory complaints, insomnia, fatigue, and psychological issues such as anxiety and depression.

Unfortunately, our natural equilibrium may be disrupted by any number of factors such as anxiety, stress, poor nutrition, weather conditions, genetics, infections, toxins, parasites, and/or trauma.

Many patients come in for regular, quarterly, or annual “tune-ups” because it helps them maintain the sweet spot of balance they’ve worked to obtain.

Intial Wellness Visit

The first visit lasts about 90 minutes. We’ll begin with a discussion of the chief reason you’ve come in, followed by a comprehensive health history. As with all aspects of Oriental Medicine, your entire case is taken into consideration so we can determine what is causing the disease. Because we are treating the whole person, not just the symptom, a robust evaluation is needed.

Facial Rejuvenation – Constitutional Acupuncture

Facial Rejuvenation Constitutional Acupuncture is a safe, painless and effective treatment for renewing the face as well as the whole body. Fine lines may be entirely erased, deeper lines reduced and bags around neck and eyes firmed.

Super fine sterile needles are placed at a variety of acupuncture points on the face, neck and around the eyes to stimulate the body’s natural energies, or Qi. Since muscle groups are addressed as well as the acupuncture points, the face lifts itself, via the acupuncture points and through the muscles’ toning and tightening action. The needles also stimulate blood and circulation, which improves facial color.
